Last day of July and my last day filling in at this fun venue! Lots of teams and a close competition. I love how people choose their team names here, and their T-shirts (see Teeling shirt above)
Round 2 - 90's toys - was very popular, with 7 successful double downs. The Motor City caused much debate, but very equal scores so it was up to the Guess Where to separate some of the teams. The first clues leant towards other answers like St Peters and Notre Dame but it was the famous Tower in Pisa that was correct!
The Beatles proved a good connection for Round 5, but not all the answers were so easy. 3 teams successfully doubled down and stayed in the top 3 to the end....
Friends from College represented in Round 6 and correctly doubled down to join the top 4. It took the Tie Break to separate them from The I teachers to finalize the top 3.
Thanks everyone for playing, especially for joining in the Beer Round where the "Giant, Wizard, Elf" version of Rock Paper Scissors gave Queen Trivia a flight of the excellent beers available from Claremont Craft Ales.
Happy August everyone!

A slow start with some unsuccessful double down belied the excitement to come on this hot summer night where teams wallowed, beers swallowed and trivia fun followed!
The pixi(lat)es in round 2 were kind to several teams with 10 teams successfully doubling down. The "Snapple" round 3 reminded us all that there's usually a tricky answer in a Theme round (and to drink another beverage from the excellent craft ales selection)
Round 4's Guess Who sent a shiver through the scores with the Fictional Queen (or Princess) Elsa (mis)leading 12 teams up with wrong answers! The teams who wisely waited til the 4 point clue were still surprised the got it right. Let it Go, Let it Go...
One of my favorite things was the connection in Round 5 - The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, given a lot of varying responses, most important of all... the answer to the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. It's 42 of course! Team Erid doubled down successfully to join the fray at the top of the leader board.
For the Beer Round, guessing the weight of the moon rocks (842 lbs) brought back by the Apollo missions gave New Team who Dis the prize flight with the closest estimate.
Their knowledge of dogs (see expert team member above) and football team nicknames kept them high on the leader board for the last two rounds and secured them joint 2nd place, but Sharks on the Ark were just that fin stroke ahead.
Nothing to Lose unfortunately did lose the 2nd place to New Team who Dis, but, as Arthur Dent said "You know, it's at times like this, when I'm trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space that I really wish I'd listened to what my mother told me when I was young."
"Why, what did she tell you?" his companion from Betelgeuse asks....
"I don't know, I didn't listen."

What a great...and busy night it was! 22 teams (that's right... two-two) were battling it out! Round 3 had nearly everyone successfully using their Double or Nothing, and we had a few rounds that the Double or Nothing attempt went bust (cue the Price is Right loser horn sound)!
In the end, New Team Who Dis used their DoN successfully over three rounds, and took the checkered flag. Congrats to our top three, and thanks for playing!
