Thanks to the OB regulars for giving me a warm welcome as your substitute Quizmaster last night!
There were only a few doubles the whole evening, which was a testament to the difficulty of the questions. The Sushi and "Guess Where" rounds were especially tough.
Throughout the game, So Damn Bourgeois, One of us Lives in a Van, Pussy over Pancakes and Wet Willies were neck and neck. One of us Lives in a Van was the only team to correctly guess the "Guess Where" for 10 points, but slow and steady won the race last night because So Damn Bourgeois consistently averaged high points each round and walked away with the first place prize. One of us Lives in a Van snagged second, and in third place, Wet Willies edged out Pussy over Pancakes by one single point.
Thanks for playing!
I like double downs, so last night at OB's was fun. All but one team doubled down in the "match up this mythological creature" round, and all but one of those paid off! So... not really dramatic, but nice to see all that success.
The night belonged to the team I like to call POP, but their official name is "Pussy Over Pancakes." Not only did these dudes win the game, and not only did they win the chili cheese round with a semi-clever personalize license plate for Quizmaster Jo, but they also worked their way into the top 200 teams of the league! Good job, POPs. Or pussies. Whatever!
Next week we'll be halfway through 2019, so let's get it!

Oh dear.
This was not a good night.
Well, okay, to be fair, it ended up being a great night. But it sure didn't start out that way.
I, your humble Quizmaster Jo, had all kinds of First World Problems: bad traffic, lame parking spot, a broken PA system, tons of mic feedback, yada yada yada. This all frazzled me to the point that I made more mistakes than usual.
BUT... the teams of OB's are the BEST TEAMS in the greater metropolitan area, and they totally had my back.
Oh, the game itself? It was great, despite my forgetting to list the standings, having to yell through only one speaker, and bungling the chili cheese round. Still, the Double Downs were frequent, the rankings bounced around all night, and So Damn Bourgeois ended up on top. Thank you all for bearing with me, see you next week!
