QUIZ RECAP

As usual, a very fun evening of KingTrivia at Strand Brewing Co. last night. Felice Catering was also with us serving up their delicious wood fired goodies.

All got off to a good start and all were trying to unseat our 3 time champ, Gattaca. Never an easy task since they are determined to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. A couple called "We Aint Gonna Win" was with us and it was very fun encouraging them to prove themselves wrong. In the end they did not win and came in last but I gave them 2 extra points for being so prophetic and staying till the end.

The fireworks started in Rd. 3 when Foursome and The Other Bar Was Full both nailed the double, forcing Gattaca to play catch up. Well they did just that and heading into Rd. 7, 5 teams were in the hunt for 1st.

In the end Gattaca just couldn't make up the ground and were dethroned form 1st but 3rd place and the $10 gift cert is not too shabby. Foursome gave it their best shot but fell short by 4 points and got 2nd and the $25 cert. One of our regulars a very great group of peeps, The Other Bar Was Full finished very strong in Rd.'s 6 and 7 and came away with their 1st win of the season. A well deserved win and got the $30 gift cert and of course the photo with IronMan.

QUIZ RECAP

You know it's gonna be a fun night when one of the players is wearing the the same shirt as the Quizmaster! (see picture). And true to form it was one of the most fun nights I have had as a host. 10 teams, 9 registered, so a very familiar crowd ready to have fun.

Gattaca was in the house looking for the "3 peat" but it would not be easy with teams like Test Equipment, The Other Bar Was Full and Los Pollos Locos.

Got off to a fairly even start then in Rd.3 , both Gattaca and Pollos Locos successfully doubled, putting the pressure on the rest of the teams. By Rd.6 however, even though those 2 had a decent lead, any one of the others could have caught them by nailing a double down.

For the free beer round I had them draw a caricature of moir and had some great entries (see pictures). I also had Sarah and Ryan, the Strand bartenders, be the impartial judges. Tropical Heat was the winner and drew me as a cat in an effort to suck up to the judges and it worked!

In the end, Gattaca was just too tough and completed the 3 peat, capturing 1st and the $30 Strand gift cert. Los Pollos Locos took 2nd and the $25 cert and The Other Bar Was Full completed a very nice comeback and edged out Test Equipment for 3rd and the $10 cert.

QUIZ RECAP

Had a nice group last night at Strand Brewing Co. and as usual Felice Catering was in the house serving up their delicious wood fired fare.

Gattaca was our retuning champ from last week and with IronMan at their table they were on a mission to repeat. Team Test Equipment was with us and always nice to have them, they are a very good team. As expected, both of them got off to a great start with successful doubles and appeared destined for a 1st place battle. Another of our regulars, The Other Bar Was Full, was struggling a bit at the beginning but then scored a strong 9 in Rd. 5 and successfully doubled in Rd. 6 putting themselves right in the mix.

So the battle was on and who would finish strong. Well the answer would be Gattaca as they successfully doubled in Rd.6 and got them all right in Rd.7 and didn't risk the double and grabbed 1st place for the 2nd weeksin a row and of course got the $30 gift certificate. Test Equipment also finished strong by nailing their double down in Rd.7, not enough to take first but second is not too shabby. The Other Bar Was Full overcame their early struggles and captured 3rd. A fun night for sure.
