About Spitz - Los Feliz

Founders Bryce Rademan and Robert Wicklund laid the groundwork for Spitz while studying at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Discovered while on a semester abroad in Spain, Rademan fell in love with Döner Kebab. It was sold on virtually every street corner and he was hooked. Upon arriving back in the US, Rademan immediately became infatuated with the idea of bringing Döner Kebab to L.A. In the spring of 2005 he teamed up with Wicklund and they ultimately opened their first location a mile from Occidental six months after graduating.

A pretty close game throughout the night if I say so myself, until the end when all the doubling occurred. The place was packed with people eager to spit out their trivia knowledge for glory. There were many rounds that had many teams win some successful doubles. TIL this group of trivia players are very good with their favorite TV show logos, authors, and Confederate states. I also learned that Swarthmore College a) exists, b) is in Pennsylvania, and c) is nicknamed "The Garnet" (The gemstone round was pretty rough).

And to settle the debate that almost got me killed in the first round: Reuben sandwiches are traditionally made with Russian dressing. They are not the same thing. I researched it. Click here if you don't believe me. You guys are still not getting the point XP

P.S. I could eat those Spitz fries with garlic aioli all day err day

Only 13 teams tonight, but it was crowded enough for people to have to play in the side room!

During the game we had teams singing along to the "Happy Happy" playlist, which included some of the best 80's Rock anthems of all time, and teams fought a hard fight. We learned about the downside of Double of Nothing a few times...

In the end, the top three teams only one by one point each! It was a nail biter, but Urethra Franklin squeaked by with a win after being the only successful round 6 double!!

Tonight's quiz at Spitz Los Feliz was a rousing game.  After two difficult rounds where no teams felt bold enough to double-or-nothing, round 3 finally saw some successful doubles.  I was proud to hear people singing along to my "Happy Happy" playlist, and attempted a little myself.  There were laughs, and as we moved into the final rounds, the scores got close, and the winning team edged out second place by only one point!  Too bad they didn't register so that awesome score could count towards the tournament!

Also, Doner Kababs are amazing, and Spitz's french fries are the most amazing thing I've put in my mouth this week.
