Well another fun night of KingTrivia in the books. Didn't have as many of our regulars with us but had a lot of new very fun teams.
We also had Felice Catering with us up some delicious pizza tooth teams to keep them fueled.
Right through to Round 4 we had a very even contest and all teams in the hunt. A team called Squirtle Squad was making me laugh all night with their creative answers so I gave them at least 3 extra points for doing so!
Had a very fun beer round playing Name That Tune with all songs having girls/ladies names in them. I gotta say it's tough picking who raises their hand first and I hope the players understand that. Anyway, More Cowbell (appropriately) was very strong and took home the tasty free Strand Brew.
Things got interesting in Round 6 when Dunder Mifflin A-Team doubled successfully and put themselves squarely in line for first place. However, they took a big gamble in Round 7 and doubled again but missed one and only got 2 points for turning in their pen!
More Cowbell and Pen Island played consistent throughout and it was Pen Island that edged them out by 2 points to take 1st place.
Also had to use the tiebreaker question to break the tie for 3rd between DaNile and Dunder Mifflin A-Team with Dunder guessing closet and pulling out 3rd place.
Our remaining regulars, Gattica, TriviaAmigos and Great Minds Drink Alike were all in the hunt but fell a bit short in placing. I have no doubt they will come back strong next week.

Another great night of KingTrivia at the beautiful Strand Brewing Co. in Torrance. We also had the culinary delight of Market Burger surviving up some delicious local fare during the evening.
Well it was obvious DaNile showed up to play and would not be DaNied! They successfully doubled the first 3 rounds and would never look back. It was not a runaway however and the other 8 teams kept it interesting and did DaBest they could. A new squad of 3 young ladies calling themselves The Smarty Pints lived up to their names and placed 3rd with a very strong game. One of our regulars, Gattica quietly lurked in DaShadows and finished real strong to take 2nd place. We Suck At Trivia and TriviaAmigos had strong games but couldn't catch DaTop 3. Sam's Family successfully doubled for the first time ever in round 6 and Sam was wagging DaTail quite vigorously, so happy for them.
Great Minds Drink Alike and We Drink And Know Nothing gave gallant efforts but both had off nights but being former champions I'm sure they will come back strong next week.
A new team called The Mimi's and The Pipi's were a very fun group and I hope they and The Smarty Pints become regulars with us.

A very fun night of KingTrivia at the beautiful Strand Brewing Co. in Torrance last night. Had some great energy and 11 hungry teams ready to battle. Strand also had Felice Italian Catering come by serving up some delicious thin crust pizzas.
Had a bunch of our regulars and some new teams joining in the fun like Eagle Powers, CNC and Molecular Nerds!
The teams all got off to a good start and it was a very even battle right up to Round 4. The excitement ramped up in Round 5 when Great Minds Drink Alike and Los Pollos Locos both doubled correctly and put themselves a bit ahead of the pack.
For the free beer round we played Name That Tune with all songs having a girls name in the title. Well right off the bat the first song was "Roxanne" and almost every hand in the place went up! I was not ready for that and had to make a quick pick on that one. I was amazed at how everyone really got into the spirit of the game and will surely be playing Name That Tune again. Gattica beat out DaNile in the final round to take home some delicious Strand Brew!
Heading into the final round all but 1 team were in the race and it was a very exciting finish. In the end Los Pollos Locos prevailed and got the coveted 1st place picture with IronMan. Great Minds Drink Alike took 2nd by 1 point ahead of CNC.
A special thank you to my wife Anne and daughter Katie for helping me through the evening. Just had surgery on my knee so I was on crutches and had to rely on them to do all my heavy lifting and setup. Love you both very much
