IN CRUST WE TRUST

Consider us your neighborhood pizza parlor with a gourmet twist. We visited some of the greatest pizzerias on the West Coast, took the best parts of each, and brought them to Visalia as best we could. Then we added our own Central Valley twist. The end result is our menu of  hearty, flavorful pizzas made with the freshest ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible. From the adventurous “Thai Pie” to the customer favorite “Kitchen Sink”, there’s truly something for all types of pizza lovers. We rounded out our menu with a variety of signature sandwiches, farm fresh salads, and delicious appetizers like our bruschetta and artichoke fritters.

Then there’s the beer. Twenty-one taps of fresh craft beer and cider plus a massive variety of cans and bottles.

At The Planing Mill, we are committed to providing great food and guest service in a comfortable, family friendly atmosphere. We are also dedicated to serving our community through our monthly “Pizza with a Purpose” non-profit fundraisers and other efforts.

Come see our spacious new location, complete with outdoor patio and lawn area. We think you’ll find The Planing Mill to be a pretty fun place to eat, drink and be merry with friends and family!

But don’t just take our word for it. In 2017, the Visalia Chamber of Commerce named us Small Business of the Year!

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

A lot of people see our name and spend the next few seconds trying to say it. Let us help. It’s pronounced “PLAIN-ing” Mill, though there’s certainly nothing “plain” about us!

So why the name? Our first location was part of the original Visalia Planing Mill. Founded in 1851, the mill crafted specialty wood products for generations of Visalians. In fact, many older homes and businesses in town have doors and cabinets that were hand-crafted right here on our property. In honor of this legacy, and as a reflection of our commitment to artisanship, the name fit perfectly.

Tequila Mockingbird once again came to play tonight at the Planing Mill. With successful doubles in each of the odd-numbered rounds, they led this one wire to wire. In the battle for second place, Liitle Lebowski's Urban Achievers and You're a Quizzard Harry were battling it out going into the break. But newcomers Velvet Nip Slip slipped past everyone with strong Rounds 5 and 6 as well as a successful double in the final round. Regular stalwarts Top 2 Percenters used a successful final round double of their own to make their way into the top 3.

Lots of gambling tonight at the Planing Mill, which worked out for some teams and not for others. Burt Reynolds's Ghost took an early lead with a successful double in Round 2, and remained in command throughout the first half. In Round 5, they ran the table but did not double, which allowed Keeping Up With the Quizdashians, Dr. Google, and Cassidy and Sundance back into contention with successful doubles in that round.

Some missed doubles in the final few rounds had the leaderboards looking like the final scene in Rollerball by the end of things. Ultimately, BRG came out ahead of Dr. Google by a single point thanks to their Mortal Kombat II knowledge. Keeping Up With the Quizdashians held onto third place, with Cassidy and Sundance right behind them.

A night of mass doubling led to the second highest score in Planing Mill History! Burt Reynolds's Ghost took an early lead with doubles in the first two rounds, and maintained that until the final round. Palpation Nation, however, started making their move with a successful answer of Bill Murray at the ten-point clue of Round 4, nine out of ten in Round 5, and a successful double in Round 6. It all came down to the final round, and yet another successful double in Round 7 got Palpation Nation the title. Burt Reynolds's Ghost had to settle for second just two points behind, with You're a Quizzard Harry in third. Walky Talky survived a missed double in Round 2 and surged into fourth place with successful doubles in the final two rounds.
