About Casey's Irish Bar & Grille

Originally built in 1916 as a general store and Turkish bath house, Casey’s Irish Pub opened in 1969 before being annexed into Cedd Moses’ 213 Hospitality group in 2007. The underground pub, set in one of Central Downtown Los Angeles’ only single-story buildings, serves a variety of purposes, acting as a restaurant by day and a casual bar spot at night. The full bar, highlighted different varieties of whiskey, is accompanied by a food menu offering both traditional Irish dishes as well as sports-bar staples like wings, burgers and sandwiches. The 10,000-square-foot space is surrounded by photos of athletes and features an outdoor patio, a dart room, billiards, ping-pong, multiple TVs, and several reception rooms for private parties. In addition, its performance stage offers live entertainment such as musical performances, comedy routines, and trivia.

October 10th, 2016 was a banner day for Team Reserved. The wily trivia veterans have come to Casey's for Pub Quizzing for several years now, occasionally stumbling into a 50, 25 or 10 dollar bar tab, but more often than not just happy to compete for five drink tokens every week in the drinking round. Not this week though, as the RSVD ones set a personal best with 80 points and cruised to an easy victory. And they celebrated as only they could -- a four way Rochambeau battle and two bottles of chilled white Zinfandel.

After a bye week, Pub Trivia returned to Mondays at Casey's with aplomb. Saved by the Well certainly played well, saving their strategic doubles for the final two rounds on the way to a convincing 14 point win. Take No Quizners might not have won, but did achieve the symmetrical score of 69. And we all learned that as depressed as Anna Karenina may have been, she did not literally drown in the Swamp of Sadness.

Another thrilling week of Pub Trivia downtown downstairs at Casey's Irish Grille. After weeks of playing bridesmaid, Better Late Than Pregnant finally lands atop the leaderboard with 66 points, proving once again that the cream always rises to the top... but then again, so does soap scum. And we all learned that the New Mexico / Nevada border does not need protection... because it does not exist.
