QUIZ RECAP

It was a battle royale at Hop Merchant's this evening as different teams took the lead almost every round. Handsome Host, with 2 successful double downs in the first two rounds, had an early lead. But The Keg (Like the 2018 Movie The Meg), like a shark, kept moving. A key double down in round 5 gave them the point jump they needed to secure first place.

As one of the resident Hop Merchant's teams, I took the time to interview them post win. We kept answers short and sweet. 😉

How did you all meet? College.

What got you started playing trivia? 2 team members were "sad and needed beer" and made their way to Hop Merchant's one Wednesday evening several months ago. It happened to be the same night King Trivia started hosting their weekly trivia nights. They started playing and became hooked! They've grown their team to 5 and join the fun most Wednesday nights.

What is your name from? The Keg (Like the 2018 Movie The Meg) is from the first night they played. They wanted a beer pun and went with it!

What's your favorite round? Round 5. They start to figure out the theme during questions 1 and 2 and pretty consistently are able to nail it.

What's your least favorite round? Round 4. They never feel like they can figure out the person early enough.

If it were up to The Keg, there would be more questions about science, modern literature (Harry Potter and Stephen King), sports and Disney and no history or Presidents questions. One team member admitted that she has since purchased 3 or 4 books about history to boost her own knowledge and her team's knowledge.

I had a great time chatting with the team (as always!) and look forward to seeing their faces each week.

QUIZ RECAP

The late ABC sportscaster Jim McKay might have said that tonight encompassed the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.

The defeat was delivered by the televisions, which showed the Los Angeles Dodgers engage in their annual tradition of collapsing in the playoffs.

But the thrill of victory was felt by Well Dressen Campers. They put on a real Double Fest (not to be confused with the monthly meeting of fans of the 1998 Lindsay Lohan vehicle The Parent Trap), doubling successfully in four rounds!

We Have a Bad Feeling About This came in second with a strong double in the final round.

Third place was decided by a tie-breaker with Boss Vic Koss narrowly triumphing over Useless Knowledge, Inc.

Thanks to everyone for playing and a special jazz fan tip of the hat to the team that answered "Grover Washington" in a question about American Presidents.

QUIZ RECAP

After coming in last last week, We Have A Bad Feeling About This redeemed themselves by coming in first place this week! Rounds 1 and 2 saw so many teams successfully doubling down that 4 out of 6 teams were tied. However, We Have A Bad Feeling About This managed to double down in Round 5, solidifying their top spot.

We also had quite a few puppers joining us for trivia last night. It was a barking good time.
