'Twas a quiet evening at Slater's! Two teams entered...and two teams left with a gift card apiece, so happy endings all around!

Mike Tyson's Speech School was back with a vengeance tonight and began their domination of the evening with a Double or Nothing in the very first round. And they could've Doubled Round 5 for an even larger lead! Although it was really exciting that both teams figured out the Facebook theme in that round as well.

But as I kept reminding Beer Babes throughout the night: anything can happen. It's just that "anything" included exactly what they thought would happen. But we all had a blast learning that Regina King was indeed in Shameless, because I never said that she had a big role, just that she was in it at some point!

Two takeaways from tonight:
1. One of the members of the Speech School took a shot in the dark about the movie Down and Out in Beverly Hills for the matching in Round 6...and was right! But no one believed him, so because of the missed point I suggested that movie as future Christmas/birthday presents for them all.
2. Elements from the periodic table can be difficult to remember, so if you ever can't think of some, take a page out of the Beer Babes' book and make them up! My personal favorites were "Caterpillarinium" and "Capital-ism", the latter of which definitely wasn't already a word.

Great job tonight, teams! Hopefully I'll see you all and more next week! Let's drum up some competition!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 15676 Mike Tyson's Speech School 58 1 1.000
2 Beer Babes 28 0 0.000

It was a great game! Even though we only had 6 teams, everyone was super competitive and it was such a great fun game.

Bob was in the lead at the get go. In almost all the rounds, he was in the lead. But in round 6, Phillip River's 20th Kid, doubled down thanks to his knowledge of baseball, and took the lead.

The questions were fun and round 7 was an absolute blast. The most commonly missed question tonight was "In England, which vegetable used to be called 'Italian asparagus?" The answer was Broccoli!!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 15676 Phillip River's 20th Kid 53 5 1.000
2 Bob 52 4 0.800
3 Team Quit 42 3 0.600
4 Reppep 39 2 0.400
5 Better late than Pregnant 37 1 0.200
6 Carter 12 0 0.000

A quiet Tuesday night turned into a good back and forth between the top teams, with no outcome being certain throughout the final rounds!

Thanks to one of their teammates dropping their keys down an elevator shaft, Team Jesus stumbled on our game during their Bible study night and gave newcomers Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers a run for their money! They learned the hard way that Double or Nothings can be your friend, however, as two rounds would've benefitted them and catapulted them into first place.

Elsewhere in the game, teams were very successful at identifying talk show hosts that weren't Oprah and NHL arenas that weren't in the country. Uffda won't soon forget the name "Duke Ellington" since that cost them a Double or Nothing and put them out of contention for the night.

But it all came down to Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock as many teams learned the hard way that Speed 2 has a 4% on Rotten Tomatoes for a reason and would not be one of Ms. Bullock's highest grossing films. Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers edged out Team Jesus for the win, with Mike Tyson's Speech School rounding out our prize winning top 3 for the evening.

Shout out to 2DC, who agreed to play after some gentle encouragement by a very convincing Quizmaster...and ended up doing much better than they thought they would!

Thanks for playing tonight, everyone! See you next week!
