There was major man love for the NFL quarterback picture card round! One player suggested that next time we do a round on NFL linebackers 😀
We had three newbie teams, two of which placed! Congrats to the Banana Cat Club, who even after losing three of their players, managed to win third place. Two guys out for drinks stayed for trivia, named themselves the Churchill Boys, and came in second.
It was fun to see back trivia regulars Baby Cheezes and Mike Tyson's Speech School! Being a registered team and earning their 2 bonus points, Mike Tyson's Speech School beat out the Churchill Boys and came in first!!!

A slow night at Slater's for the week, but with three teams there was still plenty to celebrate!
We celebrated Elliot, who got up off of his bar stool from normally being one of our players and co-hosted with me this week! We'll hopefully see him hosting a game of his own here soon.
We celebrated the beginnings of two new New Zealand soap operas (since two teams didn't know the answer to that question): Days of Our Kiwis and General Wallaby. Coming soon to Hululuru...try saying that pun three times fast...
We celebrated the finale of Game of Thrones a few weeks later with not one, but two questions that Atari Kobayashi were not able to answer. As I told them, this is a sign that they're spending too much time not watching television and it's a shame they've chosen other, more outdoorsy activities with fresh air. A real shame.
Once the kids in our section left, we were able to celebrate saying the full name of Two Chicks with Dicks, who were heretofore known as "Two Chicks with...Guys".
All three teams celebrated guessing random countries that had recently been in the World Cup because everyone did much better than expected in the final round and got at least eight countries right!
And finally, we celebrated the success of our Top 2 teams for the evening: Two Chicks with Dicks and Baby Cheezes! Congrats, you two!
See you all next week!

This was truly a night for back and forths going on all over the place! Teams were constantly edging each other out for the Top 3 spots throughout the game, and the fun got started almost immediately!
Be More Pacific shot out of the gate with a Double or Nothing thanks to some impressive knowledge of the Arrowverse on The CW (come on, guys, it's superheroes on TV! everyone should be watching that!!) but then fell into a rut that lasted for a few rounds.
Mike Tyson's Speech School did the best with identifying movies that wrestlers have starred in using their awesome knowledge of all things WWE (a category they continue to want more of...but there is a slight bias there, so...). They also did Khaleesi proud by answering the most questions right about dragons!
Round 4 showed me that plenty of people have watched Lion King 2: Simba's Pride since that's the movie containing Simba's daughter's romance...don't judge me. But then came the dreaded Round 5, and in a first for me since coming to Slater's, not a single team got the category figured out. Curse you, Beatles!! To be fair, there were some hard questions in this round...but if you knew there was a Yellow Submarine outside of the Liverpool Airport, then my questions would be 1) how on earth do you know that??? and 2) why didn't you get the category as "Beatles songs"??? Luckily, our castle-identifying Round 6 came through for almost everyone and rectified some point totals.
Round 7 was an oldie but a goodie: naming all of the multi-word state capitals. A question that everyone knows the answer to...the trick is remembering them. And this is what created several come-from-behind victories on the part of Be More Pacific and Love Your Socks Off (a team name I helped them come up with, combining Team Love with Knock Your Socks Off...I'm so clever!). Son o' Buoys had cashed in on a Double or Nothing in the previous round, landing them in a solid 2nd Place overall, but the previously mentioned teams each DoN'd, with Be More Pacific launching themselves into a well-deserved 1st!
Love Your Socks Off then had to engage in a tiebreaker with Mike Tyson's Speech School, which is always exciting! But due to Price is Right rules, Mike Tyson's Speech School was eliminated for going over and for the first time in weeks forfeited their Top 3 spot to Love Your Socks Off, a team that went from "You ruined our night" with the harder rounds to "This was a blast!" in the final!
Thanks for playing, everybody! And congrats to the Top 3! See you all next week!
