About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

We had 3 fantastic teams for trivia this Tuesday! It was a close race from start to finish.

All three teams are registered on KingTrivia.com to get the 2 bonus points, and it showed! The first round of General Knowledge proved just how general this round of knowledge was, when all three teams not only got all the answers right, but also doubled down on them AND got the bonus points for the team number. So round one scores tallied up a tie at 14 points each.

In round 2, Riff Raff got a little over-confident, and doubled down on their picture round, but came in just shy, costing them dearly, while the other two teams each got 7 out of the 8 quarterbacks right, leaving us with just a two -way tie between I'm Here for the Gang Bang and Risk it for the Biscuit.

That didn't slow down Riff Raff in Round 3, for the Theme round, of triple dubs (W's, that is). They all told me this round was too easy, as each team correctly answered every question in Round 3, and went double-or-nothing, keeping a steady tie-lead for Risk it for the Biscuit and I'm Here for the Gang Bang.

Round 4, Guess Who was close as well, and while Risk it for the Biscuit and Riff Raff both guess correctly on the 8 point clue, but I'm Here for the Gang Bang almost forgot it could be a fictional character, so they waited until after the 6 point clue to turn in their answer.

Round 5, Find the Connection, two teams actually did find the connection, even without knowing all of the other answers.

The point gap really started to narrow off in Round 6, the matching round of decades to movie release dates, when Riff Raff and I'm Here for the Gang Bang both got 10/10 correct. That put us at 54-53-51 scores going into the final round...

Round 7, the Final Round, Behind Iron Curtain #1 wasn't as easy as some thought it was when they handed in their answer sheets. It asked for 10 of the 14 countries that the USSR broke up into in 1991 (excluding Russia). Risk it for the Biscuit knew their limits, and turned in their best try, but only getting 4 correct answers. Going for the gold, both Riff Raff and I'm Here for the Gang Bang decided to double-or-nothing their last round to take a stab at that W. I'm Here for the Gang Bang was so close, missing only 1 answer, so that meant Riff Raff took home the win with their 10 correct answers!!

Final scores brought Riff Raff to the #1 spot, followed by Risk it for the Biscuit in 2nd, and then I'm Here for the Gang Bang 3rd.

It was a fun night, bring all your friends, spread the word, and we'll see you all again next week!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 17940 Riff Raff 71 2 1.000
2 17519 Risk it For the Biscuit 57 1 0.500
3 17594 I'm Here for the Gang Bang 54 0 0.000

We had a great group again this Tuesday for Trivia at Bar Charlie!

Riff Raff started off strong, scoring 7 points in Round 1 with all their General Knowledgery, while N.A.R.* and Launching Rocket Downtown brought up the rear.

Up next with the Picture Round, the teams had to grape-el through the purple characters, and N.A.R.* chose the wrong Sailor Moon character, costing them their double-or-nothing gamble.

Round 3 reminded us all of a childhood jingle, but a few teams forgot their bologna's name was the key to this round's theme. But this allowed The Valcoholics to sing into the lead.

The Guess Who round (4) this week was caught by 3 of our teams in the first clue, 1 team got it after the second clue, and 1 other team guessed semi-incorrectly - they put down the actor's name instead of the character we were looking for. In this case, we wanted the fictional character.

But, alas, we moved on into round 5... Find the Connection. Riff Raff came in with all 10 correct answers on this round! However, the most creative connection between the answers came from N.A.R.* - What do the previous 9 answers all have in common? - Things D. Trump has lied about... lol

The Matching round really secured the lead for The Valcoholics, who went double-or-nothing on their character and author pairings. Riff Raff could have kept up, but didn't commit to the double-down, and thus only scored 10 points on this round, while the Valcoholics took home 20.

The Final Round was a doozy! The question regarding the FIFA World Cup lead to confusion on whether we were asking for men's or women's teams, and whether clarification if the teams needed to make it to the finals. So while I did some research and recon work, the teams did their best to remain patient and discuss it amongst themselves. In the end, we had two teams go for broke on double-or-nothing, and needed a tie-breaker for 2nd place.

It was a true nail-biter til the end!

Final scores brought The Valcoholics home in 1st place, followed by I Pick My Knows, who won the tie-breaking question for 2nd place, and then in 3rd came Riff Raff. Great energy was shared as well by N.A.R.* and Launching Rocket Downtown.

Thank you all for coming out to play with King Trivia at Bar Charlie! I'll see you again next week!

What a fun night of trivia!

We started out with a great group of 6 teams. Risk it for the Biscuit started out the night in Round 1 with all correct answers and the two bonus points for being registered on KingTrivia.com - coming out of the gates with guns blazing! They had all that General Knowledge on lock.

Round 2 was a bit tougher, those WWE actors had a few teams scratching their heads.

In Round 3, Platinum Blondes showed off their Dragon knowledge, getting all 6 answers correct; whereas Riff Raff were a little too overzealous in their use of the double-or-nothing, and was off by 1 answer, earning them 0 points that round.

Risk it for the Biscuit maintained their top score by turning in their Round 4 answer after just one clue, and scoring all 10 points for the round - they definitely know their Lion King!

Only Team 5-1-0 was able to find the connection in the Round 5 answers, but it wasn't until Round 6 that they were able to steal the lead from Risk it for the Biscuit. The matching round of Castles to Countries in combination with their double-or-nothing excellence put Team 5-1-0 in the top spot.

And finally in Round 7, three teams went double-or-nothing, but only one of them reaped the benefits, getting all the answers right! This only proved to put Team 5-1-0 further ahead of the pack in 1st place.

Risk it for the Biscuit followed them in 2nd place, and then in 3rd it was Gin Quizzes!

Thank you all for coming out and making it a fun night! See you again next week, same time, same place 🙂
