Shall I play... oh... never mind.
This was a silly idea and, honestly, the song is almost as bad to write as it is to hear.
Anyway... it was our final King Trivia of 2018!
As you probably guessed from the ill-advised verse above, Wine Aunts started strong with a Double or Nothing in Round One. The Smooth Hands Crew and Karen had a perfect Round One as well but did not Double or Nothing so they only had a fingernail on hold on 2nd Place, with only a span of 3 points separating them and the remaining four teams.
From there it was a battle for Second with Drunk Uncles keeping it within 3 points. All the while, The Smooth Hands Crew inched their way closer to first, but it wasn't quite enough. In the end it was Wine Aunts prevailing with a whopping 64 points. Followed by The Smooth Hands Crew and Karen with 52. And rounding out our prize winners were Drunk Uncles with a noble 41 points.
All in all, it was a great end to a great year of trivia! Plus, I FINALLY got a picture of the dog for whom the bar is named!
One last thing, If you happen to be in the Seattle area on December 19th, stop by Bar Charlie for their 2nd Anniversary bash! (details in the pictures, along with my shadowy reflection). They're a great place with wonderful cocktails delicious food and would love to have you there to help celebrate! (dogs welcome)
Until next time, have a great holiday and a fabulous New Year!
See you in 2019!
Here on my drum...
The questions were falling like hard rain in Seattle last night and the actual rain was falling like regular rain. More of light drizzle, really.
We began the night with five teams and a four-way tie. And ended the night with three teams and a no-way tie! Also, in attendance was a dog named Whiskey. Charlie, the dog for whom the bar is named was not there that night, sadly, but his portrait was! (I snagged pictures of both! As well as some arty shots of the airplane parts on the walls...)
NPO Violators and Sentinel Island Tribesman both had to leave after Round 5, but ended their evening with 15 and 17 points, respectively. It was a noble showing for both teams and we wish them Godspeed and rapid success in all future endeavors. (also, come back next Tuesday!)
Flying Wombats hit a couple of hurdles early with a missed Double or Nothing and a wrong answer on for the Guess Where Round, but regained footing with a very solid showing in Rounds 5, 6, and 7. The Smooth Hands Crew and Karen kept it pretty tight with Patagucci Track Suits throughout most of the evening, but started pulling ahead in Round 4 with a correct answer on the 10 point clue. From there they sailed on to First Place with a commanding 60 points!
Flying Wombats took Second Place with 45 points and Patacucci Track Suits landed Third Place with 44 point. One point! Just goes to show it's worth your time to register your team. *end lecture* Luckily, there's still plenty of time before next Tuesday!
It was a cold night in Seattle, but the hot, hot trivia kept the 6 teams warm!
It was a close game throughout, but it was The Smooth Hands Crew and Karen and Quiz on Your Face keeping it, at most, a 4-point race for 1st Place that made it a real nail-biter!
In the end, the 1st Place Prize was grabbed by Smooth Hands by only two points! As exciting as that was, the real stunner of the night belonged to Romy and Michelle, whose 7th Round Double or Nothing leapfrogged them past You're a Quizzard, Harry and propelled them into 3rd Place!
As the old saying goes:
No guts.
No glory.
Know guts.
Know a stunning come-from-behind 3rd Place Prize. (dibs on the bumper sticker rights)
See you next week!
