About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

It was another snowy, cold, slushy Tuesday here in Seattle, but at least 5 teams worth of people were stir-crazy enough to brave the elements and make the trek to Bar Charlie for this week's quiz- which means that over half the teams walked away with prizes! (The other two teams walked away with the knowledge that they could finally leave their homes for a fun night out. And my respect. Always my respect)

Of the teams that made it to the top spots, Vegabond took first place and gets a special shout out for having an all time high score since King Trivia has been at Bar Charlie with 91 POINTS!

It was a constant back and forth between Team 5-1-0 and Risk it for the Biscuit for 2nd and 3rd place, but it was a Round 7 Double or Nothing from Beast Coast that catapulted them past Team 5-1-0 and into a 3rd Place prize by only two points!

Risk it for the Biscuit had a firm grasp on 2nd Place with 71 points!

All in all it was nice respite from the icy misery outdoors this Tuesday.

Also, just wanted to give another shout out to Nate the Bartender who is leaving Bar Charlie this week- he's been a wiz behind the bar (seriously, the guy has some real talent with bottles and a shaker) and gracious host during my time here and he will be missed- BEST OF LUCK, NATE!

See you next week!

Seattle saw snow on Monday which meant that Tuesday night Trivia at Bar Charlie was little more... intimate than usual. But we still had a fun night and the weather didn't stop a few new teams from joining us, along with a few of the regulars.

Of the seven teams that braved the ice and cold, three of them ended the night with prizes. New comers LGBTBBQ took 3rd Place with 47 points, while Missive, the returning one-man powerhouse under the new name, edged them out for 2nd Place by one point. But it was Risk it for the Biscuit that earned the 1st Place with decisive 62 points.

Disregard for road conditions has its rewards, it seems.

Hope to see you there next Tuesday! (weather permitting)

It was an exciting Tuesday at Bar Charlie, chock full of new teams (ten in total), double or nothings, and a militarized party boy fireman (in perhaps the most esoteric question I've seen to date- not a one team guessed correctly, but there was another sighting of Bar Charlie's eponymous pooch, so all is well)

The Hand Out round was full of teams willing to take the double or nothing leap and most that did, earned a cool 20 points!

After being tied with Wacka Flacka Flames for about 5 rounds, Sleeping Booty was able to edge them out and take the 3rd Place Prize. Neuro Transmissions, a one-person powerhouse of team, grasped 2nd Place, with XX points, only 1 point behind our 1st Place Wacka Flacka Flames who ended the night with xx points. All in all really good and fun night of King Trivia.

Farewell until next week!
