About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

We had a fun night of trivia this Tuesday! Here are the highlights:

First off, more people need to be following King Trivia on Facebook! Only 3 of our 8 teams got the Tuesday Facebook question right this week, and it wasn't Sarah Palin... Quick reminder, King Trivia gives you a head start on one question every week for our trivia, at https://www.facebook.com/KingTrivia/

In Round 2, we had four teams get all the answers right to the Picture Round, and three of them even went Double-or-Nothing for double the points!

While we may have gotten a little saucy, especially in Round 3, it looked like we might need to brush up on our French cuisine, particularly Mother Sauces.

Round 4 was a tough one this week, with our Guess Where having some interesting history.

Great job to No use for a Name, Punderings, and Riff Raff for finding the correct Connection in Round 5! Even though all the answers were items of food, this week, the final question asked how they all tied to Silicon Valley, for which the answer was Android OS names.

I always appreciate music rounds, which is what Round 6 was this week - gives me a chance to bust out the vocals 🙂

And in Round 7, we learned that only one team knew any of the Calendar Slam tennis players (great work, Riff Raff), and Punderings was the only team to get all of the Prime Ministers of the UK from the 21st Century!

In the end, it was Five Inches Collectively who came out on top in first place, Riff Raff in second, and Punderings rounding out the top three. Thank you to everyone who came out to play! See you next Tuesday!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average

It was another packed evening at Bar Charlie for trivia this week! And I had a helper trying his hand at this whole QM thing (thanks Jim, great job!)

Eight full teams got to battle it out with their brains. Round 1 was our General Knowledge, and for the most part, teams did pretty well here. The one commonly missed question was about what Louisiana team won a smaller version of the "fall classic," key word being smaller version, we were looking for the Little League World Series, not LSU...

Round 2 tested the teams knowledge of (once banned) book covers, and they had to be specific. Toughest ones were The Grapes of Wrath, and the full Harry Potter title (and the Sorcerer's Stone).

For the third round, we had our guest Quizmaster, Jim, cracking jokes and counting points. We think he did great, and got some positive feedback from a few of our BC regulars 🙂

Our Guess Who round this week took a few clues for teams to start turning in their answers, but they all got it eventually. You really have to know a lot about these people to get it right on the first or second clue.

In round 5, we brought Jim back up again to Find the Connection. Riff Raff could have gone double-or-nothing to really jump in front of Sleeping Booty, but they held off for round 6, matching the fictional foods and drinks to their sources, and took the lead.

The final round was a tough one, and for the most part, kept teams in their same pecking order as the previous round. Although Boo's Crews was the only team to write down Papua New Guinea, the rest of the teams did well too.

In the end, final scores had Riff Raff in 1st place, followed by Sleeping Booty in 2nd, and Risk it for the Biscuit (who didn't end up risking it) in 3rd.

Thank you all for coming out for trivia this week! We had a ton of fun!

See you next Tuesday!

Everyone wanted to be inside out of the cold this week, as temperatures are starting to drop into the low 40's in Seattle, but Bar Charlie was a warm respite from the cold, and their Hot Toddies were sure to heat things up from the start. Needless to say, it was packed, and there were a couple teams who started their Trivia Tuesday without even a table to sit at.

We got things rolling soon enough, and here are the highlights:

Through rounds 1 & 2, most of the teams were on an even playing field, with Riff Raff taking the lead in the 2nd round, going double or nothing.

In round 3, Sleeping Booty took a dive on their double or nothing, by missing one answer about an American Boilermaker. Then in round 4, turning in an incorrect answer cost them a point, and round 5 didn't fare any better for them 🙁

To be fair, Round 4 *Guess Where* was difficult, and the 6-point clue could have been anywhere on planet earth, stating "The area is under attack by various forms of environmental threats. Pollution is a major issue, as contaminants harm the living creatures, and warmer water temperatures negatively affect the area..."

With all the impeachment themed team names, there could have been another answer that tied into the Round 5 Connection as well.

Round 7 was a fun one this week, where the teams got to show off their basketball player points trivia knowledge with the top 10 all time point scorers in the NBA. Unfortunately, Air Bud didn't make the list.

After an exciting game, it was Riff Raff who once again came in 1st place, followed by James and the Giant Impeachment in 2nd, and Impeachy Keen in 3rd.

Great job everyone! Thank you all for coming out to play trivia with us at Bar Charlie! See you next Tuesday 🙂
