We had six great teams joining us for trivia this week for an evening of fun and smarts!
Round 1 had In Dead Last starting out in the lead (so much for the name) with 12 points right off the bat, and sadly Gassy Gary started out with a measly 1 point... and everyone got to hear how my elementary school math teacher used to use Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice when teaching about fractions.
Not to worry for poor Gassy Gary though, as after the Picture round (and a couple of challenges on my ruling for "2001" - remember Rule #3?), they made some headway by doubling down, along with NC (17), and Team 5-1-0.
The Theme round this week was Champions, which turned out to be difficult for most, except for the team with the most opposite name of the theme itself - In Dead Last did quite well on this round, scoring 5 points to everyone else's 3.
Round 4 was our Guess Who, and although I reminded them it could be a real or fictional person, some of the teams had a hard time coming up with this TV Mom character, with the Frankenstein hair style.
Round 5 can usually come together if you can figure out what the connection is to help fill in some of the gaps on questions that you might not otherwise know. This was the case here this week as well - or perhaps vice versa. The teams who got the connection, also did quite well on the rest of the round.
The Matching Round gave Where's Bob a little boost with their correct Double-or-Nothing for 20 points, but The Pretenders weren't so lucky, and lost out on their reach for a double down.
It came right down to the final round, but in the end it was Team 5-1-0 on top with 1st place, followed by In Dead Last in 2nd, and Gassy Gary in 3rd. Great showing by NC (17), Where's Bob, and The Pretenders, though! A little healthy competition is good for the soul, and a Bar Charlie cocktail sure doesn't hurt either 😉
Thank you all for coming out! See you next Tuesday!

Seattle does love a good dog-friendly bar. Luckily, our very own Bar Charlie is just that, and also has #TriviaTuesdays. We had plenty of dogs on site to help with this week's Trivia.
Riff Raff started out Round 1 by going Double-or-Nothing AND getting their 2 bonus points for being registered on KingTrivia.com, coming in hot with 14 points out the gate! But it wasn't long before Team 5-1-0 swooped in to take the lead in Round 2 with their very own Double-or-Nothing in the Picture Round, Lucky Number 13, earning them 16 points for Round 2 alone.
It was pretty steady pacing after that, keeping Team 5-1-0, Riff Raff, and Risk it For the Biscuit in the top 3 slots. Best team name goes to Cedar? I just Met her! this week, who took an unfortunate dive in Round 4, with an incorrect Guess What answer. And then in Round 6, the matching round, four teams went Double-or-Nothing, with 2 going Double, and 2 going Nothing.
Quote of the night was from Risk it for the Biscuit, who went all in for the final round... and missed it by 1, saying, "We're not Play it Safe for the Biscuit," but still came in 3rd place; not too shabby with this tough competition.
Great job everyone! It's so fun having you all come out for trivia!
See you next Tuesday!
🙂
It was certainly great to be back hosting trivia after a week off last week!
We started the evening with three teams, and then one of them left after a few rounds, so it was a tough competition between two great teams (and the peanut gallery, sitting at the bar, but decidedly not actively playing).
It was close through the first couple of rounds, although this might have been one of the tougher Picture Rounds I've seen. Those Cows were not so easily identified as one might think.
In round 3, the Theme was either difficult to remember or difficult to understand with my accent... Don't Drake and Drive - people thought I was saying Drink and Drive, which would make more sense grammatically, but that "Drake" wording was important to get a couple of the answers. For example, the answer to question 2 was Sir Francis Drake (not Captain Morgan, lol).
Round 4 really started to pull Riff Raff into the lead with the Guess Who round, for which I did need some public assistance with the German pronunciation of "Der Erstaunliche Klegrige Junge." Luckily we had a pro (who had already turned in their answer) to look over my shoulder and properly say the phrase into the mic for the rest of the crowd.
Rounds 5 & 6 kept our two remaining teams pretty close in scores, so it was still anyone's game going into the final round. Here's where it all boils down to whether or not to check that Double-or-Nothing box. Matt and Pat at the Chiro(practor) went for it, unfortunately missing the mark by just one answer; whereas Riff Raff got all the answers right, but didn't Double down.
In the end it was Riff Raff who came out ahead, and Matt & Pat at the Chiro(practor) still had fun for Taylor's BIRTHDAY!!
Thanks so much for coming out! We had a ton of fun!
I'll see you all next Tuesday!
