Last night I got a few questions about ways to actually study for trivia. While I think a lot of it is simply paying attention to things you experience, it's hard to make up ground. If you didn't watch TV/Movies while growing up, it's hard to just cram in everything.

So here are some thoughts:

1. Start watching movies/TV, learning the names of actors, characters, etc.

2. If you're catching up, then the streaming services can be helpful and also your local library. You can start with the top 10 grossing movies in the past decades. Maybe try to find the Oscar Best Pictures since, say 1980. Find a director and dive into their catalog (Hitchcock, Tarantino, Nolan, etc.). To get a double-up you can watch movies that are based on classic books (Little Women, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Scarlet Letter, etc.).
2. Another option is to look at a site like sporcle.com as a fun way to play and learn. You can pick up a lot of country names (Like, say "Saint Kitts and Nevis or Saint Lucia) or capitals (like Algiers).

For me, the best part of trivia is simply learning something new each day. Usually it's something useless like Parasite becoming the first foreign-language film to win Best Ensemble at the SAG awards. Or finally remembering the names of the newest elements on the periodictable (Tennessine, Ogenesson, Muscovium, Nihonium ??)

See you next week!

The movies are so much fun to go to. I'm not talking about just watching something on your streaming service at home. I'm talking about going to a theater and seeing things on the big screen with a full audience. There's nothing like it. Whether you're watching a visual spectacle like Star Wars or a tense drama like Parasite, you get pulled into a shared experience like no other. In 2018, A Quiet Place actually got audiences to shut up and get off their phones!

TL;DR: Go to the movies!

Here are the winners from this week. Kudos to Moms Who Drink for swinging for the fences on the final oscars question. Normally 8/9 is a great round. But when that 9th guess is Uncut Gems and you've check that little box, all hope is lost. Congrats to our world-travelling team of Capitan Pinga Dulce and our resident power couple Beersquatch.

Next Week: What movie did you last see in a theater?

You all really need to watch some movies. Seriously. I love going to the theater and getting immersed in a great film. Sure, watching at home is nice and convenient, but it's just not the same. For two hours you can escape from reality and dive into another world. I just saw Little Women and really enjoyed it. The characters were vibrant and well acted. The music was rousing and the cinematography pulled me into the world in which they lived.

Plus, it will help you figure out Fight Club before the 2 point clue. Just sayin'. Kudos to Highly Unlikely on nailing the 10 pts in round 4 and then riding that to the finish line. But, bigger kudos go out to Squints on finally finishing on top, based on a superb knowledge of the surface area of Montana.

See you all next week. For giggles, tell me you favorite number (and why) next week.
