QUIZ RECAP

We had another full house at Collision tonight, with 5 returning teams and 29 players! Long-time regulars Brown Chicken, Brown Cow led wire-to-wire, setting the tone by converting successful double-or-nothing plays in each of the first two rounds to jump 8 points clear of Trebek's Rejects. Brown Chicken, Brown Cow outscored the field in each of the first 4 rounds to pad their lead until #momjeans hit a successful double-or-nothing in Round 5; their 20 points vaulted them into 2nd place (Brown Chicken Brown Cow also got all 10 right but were now playing it safe and did not double). #momjeans also got 10 out of 10 in Round 6 to gain a point and close the deficit to 10, leaving them the only team with a mathematical chance to catch the leaders. Trebek's Rejects and Gold vs. Gold each successfully converted a double in the last round; the 18 points left Trebek's Rejects 2 points behind #momjeans (who scored 7) for 2nd place (57-55), while Gold vs. Gold were 4th with 47. An undermanned Nostradumbass finished 5th with 23 points, but the night belonged to Brown Chicken, Brown Cow with birthday boy Tim, who shared birthday cake with the whole field. Their 6 points in Round 7 allowed them to cruise home with 66 points and a 9-point victory. Thanks to all who played, see you next week!

We had another nice turnout at Collision Brewing, even with the 1st gorgeous evening of the season holding the numbers down a bit. Four returning teams were joined by first-timers Trebek's Rejects; with all 5 teams teams registered (and garnering 2 points out of the gate),the contest was within a 3-point margin after Round 1.Gold vs. Gold hit on a double-or-nothing in Round 2 to move 8 points clear of the pack, but Trebek's Rejects responded with a double of their own in Round 3 to close to within 2 points. Unfortunately for the rejects, they guessed too soon in the Guess Who round, and the -1 haunted them the rest of the night.

#momjeans (back after an unusual absence last week) were models of consistency, getting 6 out of 6 in each of the first 3 rounds; the only team to score 8 points in the Guess Who round, the ladies moved to within 3 points of the lead after 4 rounds (with Brown Chicken, Brown Cow a further 4 points back in 3rd). Gold vs. Gold scored 9 in the Find The Connection round (more on that later) and were 6 points in front until #momjeans hit on a double-or-nothing in Round 6 to catapult into the lead. Brown Chicken, Brown Cow responded with a double of their own in Round 7 but fell 3 points short when #momjeans scored 9 to win, 63-60. Gold vs. Gold scored 9 and 8 in the final two rounds but were beaten by the doubles and finished 3rd with 57 points. A good time was had by all and we look forward to next week, when (weather permitting) the patio door will be open to the mountains to our west. See everyone next week!

Week 3 at Collision Brewing saw a dominating performance from Nostradumbass, who coasted home to beat a strong team of newcomers, Gold vs. Gold. A strong turnout of 6 teams filled the room, and everyone got off to a decent start before Nostradumbass dropped the hammer, successfully converting a double-or-nothing in both rounds 2 AND 3 (Gold vs. Gold also hit in round 3), opening up a 9-point lead. Perennial contenders Brown Chicken, Brown Cow were hanging in until they took a -1 in the Guess Where round, providing newcomers Scooter the chance to slip past them into 3rd place when they answered correctly on the 6-point clue. Nostradumbass and Gold vs. Gold battled for the top spot throughout, each scoring 6 in the Guess Where round and doubling successfully in the (extremely clever) Find The Connection round; Brown Chicken and Scooter took turns passing each other all night, staging a fight for 3rd place. Brown Chicken moved a point ahead with a 9 in Round 5, and increased the margin to two in Round 6, outscoring Scooter 9-8; Scooter outdid Brown Chicken 8-7 in the final round but ended up 1 point short as Brown Chicken, Brown Cow finished 3rd. After besting Gold vs.Gold 9-6 in Round 6, Nostradumbass entered the last round ahead 69-57. Knowing that only a double-or-nothing could beat them, Nostradumbass elected (after much debate) to play it smart and NOT check the double-or nothing box....which they should have done as they scored 10 out of 10! As it turned out it didn't matter as Gold vs. Gold scored a 9 and Nostradumbass won easily, 79-66.
