The weather kept the numbers down this week at Collision, as we had our first snow of the season (overnight low of 14!) but a hardy bunch turned out and produced a really good game tonight. Everyone was bunched within 2 points after the 1st round but Brown Chicken, Brown Cow and Trebek's Rejects gradually separated themselves from the pack, each scoring 7 of 10 in Round 3, doubling successfully (for 12 points) in Round 3 and correctly answering the 6-point clue in the Guess Where round. Hats off to the Wet Dream Catchers, the only team to correctly answer the 8-point clue.
Brown Chicken, Brown Cow put the hammer down, converting successful doubles in rounds 5 & 6 for 20 points each; all 5 teams got all 10 answers right in the Handout Round (all but Wet Dream Catchers doubled). Both Trebek's Rejects and Trivia Trumps Debates doubled successfully in Rounds 6 & 7 for 20 points in each case; #momjeans, in the running all night, took a zero in Round 7 (Alexander Hamilton was never President) to fall into 4th place. Brown Chicken, Brown Cow did the math; leading by 13 entering the final round, they chose NOT to double. Their 10 point score was enough to secure the win by 3 points over Trebek's Rejects. They got the $30 in gift cards, 1 6-pak of Collision Beer of their choice...plus a couple of butternut squash for "squashing" their competition, courtesy of Collision Brewing.

We had another GREAT turnout tonight at Collision, and a GREAT game as well, with several lead changes. Brown Chicken Brown Cow, Limoncello and #momjeans each doubled successfully out of the gate to take the early lead, but Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants (back after a lenghty absence) were the only team to hit a double in Round 2; through 2 rounds Limoncello and #momjeans led with 21 points, Sex Pants and Brown Chicken each had 20 in 3rd while Trivia Trumps Debates and Jeffrey Dahmer's House Of Ribs were tied for 5th with 15 points. (4-Way Stop missed on an attempted double and were fighting uphill the rest of the night) The results in Round 3 left Brown Chicken and Sex Pants tied for first, with Limoncello and the Moms 1 point behind; Limoncello took its only undisputed lead of the night by correctly answering the 8-point "Guess What" clue; the other 3 contenders each scored a 4 in that round while Brown Chicken, House Of Ribs and 4-Way Stop each took a -1 and were consigned to the bottom half of the table for the rest of the game. After laying in wait all night Trivia Trumps Debates rocketed into the lead with a successful 20-point double in Round 5, and in fact the teams' positions were set for the rest of the contest through 5 rounds with Limoncello in 2nd, Sex Pants in 3rd and #momjeans in 4th followed by Brown Chicken (9 points in Round 5), House Of Ribs and 4-Way Stop. Each of the top 4 teams scored a 9 (of 10) in the handout round, while Brown Chicken and House Of Ribs each missed on a double to fall out of the race; entering Round 7 Trivia led by 4 over Limoncello, 7 over Sex Pants and 8 over #momjeans. All teams scored between 4 and 7 points in the final round; Trivia Trumps Debates' 7 gave them the win (House of Ribs' 7 pushed them out of the cellar). Limoncello celebrated their best-ever finish in 2nd place while Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants nosed out #momjeans for 3rd by two points. Everyone had fun, a few laughs and a few beers; let's do it all over again next week!

A good time was had by all tonight at Collision, and it was a very competitive game too; with 5 teams of "regulars", we dispensed with explanations and got straight to playing.
Trivia Trumps Debates and #momjeans each hit a successful double-or-nothing out of the gate, and the Moms nosed in front by a point after Round 2 19-18, with Trebek's Rejects 5 points off the lead in 3rd. Those 3 teams remained in those positions after 3 rounds, with Jeffrey Dahmer's House Of Ribs & Limoncello lurking in 4th, 7 points behind the leaders. In Round 4, the race began to take shape as both Limoncello and #momjeans took a -1 to fall out of contention while Trebek's Rejects took their first lead of the night by correctly answering the 10-point clue; Trivia Trumps Debates' 4-point answer landed them in 2nd, 4 point back while House of Ribs scored 8 (!) to claim 3rd, a further 4 points back. #momjeans bounced back with consecutive scores of 9 in rounds 5 & 6 to climb within a point of 3rd place after 6 rounds; Trivia Trumps Debate and House Of Ribs each scored 8 in Round 5 (and Ribs scored a 9 in Round 6) but Trivia Trumps Debate scored a successful double in Round 6; the 20 points catapulted them into 1st place. Limoncello, game to the end, adopted the "we're in last, let's double" strategy, doubling in each of the final 2 rounds....and scoring a zero in each case. They got 2 right in Round 7 but had doubled to take a zero; Trebek's Rejects did not double but, improbably, also scored a zero (to be fair, 3 was the HIGH SCORE in this round). #momjeans scored 2, falling just short of House Of Ribs (3), who took 3rd place while the Rejects finished 2nd. Hats off to Trivia Trumps Debates for a strong performance and a win on the night, finishing 8 points clear of the pack. Let's do it again next week...there will be cake for Adrian's birthday!
