We had ANOTHER full house at Collision tonight, including a team of first-timers who acquitted themselves well....and a tiebreaker for 2nd place!
Both 4-Way Stop and Trivia Trumps Debates converted successful double-or-nothing bids right out of the gate to lead by 6 points after Round 1; Tequila Is Not A Patronus, Trebek's Rejects, #momjeans and newcomers Blonde Bitches were high scorers in Round 2, identifying 6 of the 8 images and trimming the leaders' advantage to 5 points. #momjeans got all 6 right in the Shape Happens round; Tequila Is Not A Patronus did them one better by doubling, taking the lead by a point over 4-Way Stop and 5 over #momjeans. Tequila were again high scorers in the Guess Who round, correctly answering for 8 points (5 teams, including Just Us 2, answered correctly for 6 points while both Trebek's Rejects and Limoncello guessed Shirley Temple and took a -1, effectively knocking them out of the running for the night). But just when Tequila Is Not A Patronus seemed poised to rule the day, they went for a double in Round 5 and only got 9 right (the same fate befell Trebek's Rejects). To be fair, each team guessed "Last Train To Busan" (directed by Yeon Sang-ho) which did fit the theme. 4-Way Stop scored 9 of a possible 10 in that round to move back into the lead, 2 points in front of Trivia Trumps Debates and 5 in front of #momjeans. 4-Way Stop followed that with another9 in the (extremely challenging) handout round to pad their lead; #momjeans tallied 7 to move within a point of Trivia Trumps Debates. Round 7 proved to be the most challenging to date, as #momjeans were high scorers....with 3 out of 10. 4-Way Stop's 1 point gave them the honors on the night (and the 6-pak, to be conveniently divided among 6 players), but Trivia Trumps Debates' 2 points left them in a tie for 2nd with #momjeans and necessitated the rarely-used tiebreaker question (in this case the number of viewers of the Breaking Bad series finale in its first airing). Debates guessed 23 million, while #momjeans' guess of 6.8 million was far closer to the actual number 10.3 million, netting them 2nd place. Kudos to newbies Blonde Bitches for a respectable 5th place finish.
Looking forward to another great night next week....see you all then!

ANOTHER great night at Collision, 8 teams with 52 players and 1 folding table dragged in to accommodate the crowd size! All teams scored between 4 & 6 in Round 1; Satan's Little Helpers, back for a 2nd time (and so large a contingent that they had to split into 2 teams), were top scorers with 6 of a possible 6. 4-Way Stop were high scorers in the Picture Round with 7 of a possible 8 to move into first place; no one correctly identified Josephine Baker. Trebek's Rejects 6 points (of a possible 6) in the Theme Round moved them into first; Satan's offshoot Goobersnots went for a double-or-nothing and only got 5 right, with the resulting zero dropping them into last (they would be heard from again). At this stage 7 teams were bunched within 4 points of each other.
Satan's Little Helpers correctly identified Sigmund Freud for 10 points in the Guess Who round; Goobersnots, 4-Way Stop, #momjeans and Tequila Is Not A Patronus all answered correctly for 8 points; at this point all 8 teams were within 8 points of one another. Erstwhile stalwarts Brown Chicken Brown Cow, back after a long absence, went for a double-or-nothing in the Find The Connection round; their 9 of a possible 10 (and the resulting zero) dropped them out of the running for the night. Quite rightly they pointed out that the Gnarls Barkley video for "Crazy" is a virtual video Rorschach test; unfortunately that video does not feature Dennis Hopper ("Smiley Faces" does). Goobersnots were high scorers in that round, their 8 points brought them to within 3 points of leaders 4-Way Stop. In both rounds 6 & 7, Limoncello handed in sheets with 1 answer on them as they are "not the demographic" for those topics; to their credit, each answer was correct! Round 6 (the handout round) was where Goobersnots made their move, hitting a successful double to vault into 1st place by 6 points over Satan's Little Helpers and 8 over Trebek's Rejects. Goobersnots sealed the deal by scoring 10 of a possible 10 in Round 7 to claim the glory, the gift cards and a six-pak of Collision Red Rambler; Trebek's Rejects' 9 points secured them 2nd place by 3 points in front of Satan's Little Helpers.
It was a good game and, more importantly, a fun night at Collision. Let's do it again next week!

WOW! Another great game, with another great turnout, tonight at Collision. Limoncello were high scorers in Round 1 with 6 of a possible 6 for their only lead of the night....but they enjoyed their moment! Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants converted a successful double in the Picture Round to leap out to a 9-point lead over 4-Way Stop and #momjeans; newly constituted Tequila Is Not A Patronus were 4th, a further point back. The "Oscar" theme round saw no fewer than 3 teams successfully double: #momjeans, Trebek's Rejects and Trivia Trumos Debates each scored 12 points, with #momjeans closing to within 2 of Sex Pants. All teams correctly named the Guess Who subject; Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants and 4-Way Stop were high scorers with 6 points. #momjeans and Trebek's Rejects each tallied 10 of a possible 10 in the Find The Connection round but were outshone by 4-Way Stop, who doubled to move into 1st place by 2 over Sex Pants and 5 over #momjeans. When 4-Way Stop scored 5 of a possible 10 in the handout round, they entered Round 7 3with a 3-point lead over #momjeans (7 of a possible 10) and 4 in front of Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants (3). Inexplicably, or at least tragically, 1st place team 4-Way Stop went for the double....and failed (as did #momjeans & Limoncello). Trivia Trumps Debates successfully doubled to vault to 53 points; Fleetwood Mac Sex Pants' 9 (of a possible 10) nosed out TTD by a point for 2nd place. But Trebek's Rejects, in the middle of the pack most of the night, parlayed a successful double in the final round into a winning score of 57 (and the accompanying glory that goes with it)., not to mention a six-pak of Collision Crash Test IPA.
It was a tremendously fun night at Collision, I'll see you all next week!
