QUIZ RECAP

Your humble quizmaster is no slave to conventionality! So today, we honor NOT the top three teams listed in the scorecard. Oh no! They won, after all, and are even now basking in the warm glow of victory and Golden Road Gift Certificates.

No...today, instead, we pay homage to those intrepid quizzers who found themselves just a bit outside of the warm glow of victory: the score sheet  bottom-dwellers to try so hard. I speak, of course, of Team McGenius, whose 21-point finish suggests that they might consider changing their team name.  Or Our Couch Pulls Out, But We Don't, who pulled up with short 22, but clearly had a great time doing it!

Alas, O'Trivia Newton John seemed hopelessly devoted to wrong answers, and ended up with 23. And I'll say this about The Spanish Beauties: they were, indeed beauties, and were all smiles throughout their 24-point finish. As for Butt Stuff, well, your 25 points (and your team name) will go un-commented upon. (I'm at a loss for words on both subjects.)

I LOVE you guys! Truly. These teams bring a sense of spirit, competition and joie de vivre to every King Trivia event, and you deserve more recognition than you usually receive. We're happy to call you friends! See ya next week.

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words.

Here at King Trivia, we're proud to provide a challenging, stimulating test of knowledge and memory to our many skilled quizinators, who gather each week in the spirit of fun and camaraderie to test their acumen and abilities against other like-minded fans of (sometimes) arcane knowledge.

Two Girls, One Buttercup certainly rose to the challenge this week at Golden Road Brewery in beautiful Atwater Village. They finished in our top spot , followed by Gin Cold Blood in 2nd, and a tie between the formidable folks of Yer A Quizard, Harry and  SHEcago, with the homophonic SHEcagoans taking 3rd via the tiebreaker.

Note that I said homophonic, not homophobic, which would be an entirely different thing, right? But I don't have to explain that to you. You knew that! You're a King Trivia-loving seeker of knowledge an truth! You're not afraid of homophones or long words!

QUIZ RECAP

I just bought a really bad thesaurus. It's terrible, and it's terrible!

It was another wonderful night at Golden Road Brewery and Sauna here in muggy south Florida this week! Wait a minit!! This ain't Florida! It's California - land of the "yeah, but it's a dry heat!" What's happening to the world!? (We really need to do a quiz round focusing on weather, particularly that delightful summertime visitor, Monsoon Flow!)

Though the evening air was a bit warm and sticky, the conditions seemed just right for Roberti & Friends, who successfully doubled in the 5th, 6th AND 7th rounds to win the night with an incredible 99 points! Roberti has some smart friends, apparently, and they did great, and great!! (Seriously, I gotta get a better thesaurus!)

The Donner Party Train and #squadgoals rounded out our top 3 spots in the winner's circle, with THOSE People in a close race, finishing 4th.

A word of advice: if you opt to eat in the club car of the Donner Party Train, I strongly suggest you order vegetarian. Just a thought.
