About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

We often use this space to recognize and/or praise particularly amusing or creative team names. And we will continue to do so, of course. But today, we'd like to offer a quiet appreciation to the team calling themselves Mayhew Rest in Peace, who opted to honor the passing of one of Hollywood's genuine good guys - Peter Mayhew.

Known to one and all as Chewbacca, Peter Mayhew was one of those guys that seemingly everybody in Hollywood loved, and we will miss his goofy smile and gentle way.

Quizinators young and old - nerds and normies alike - have a special place in our hearts for the Star Wars universe, and we thank you for your memorable contribution to our lives. May you rest in peace in The Force, Mr. Mayhew.

A well-earned, one-point win by Yer A Quizzard, Harry this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale. (See photo #7 above to get a look at those triumphant brainiacs). This stalwart and intrepid group of quizinators racked up 67 big points to take the top spot on the scoreboard.

Additionally, in an example of the competitive excellence on display week after week at this most excellent venue, Pups & Suds (named after the latest diet craze) took 2nd place with a score of 66!

Hot on their heels were the lovely ladies calling themselves The Blanches, who finished in the top three with a score of 63. Now that's some tight competitive quizzing right there! Well done, everyone!
