About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

A battle of titans took place this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale, when two very competitive teams - Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink and Trashley Wards - went head-to-head in a battle royal that wasn't resolved until the final points were counted!

BJWLUD edged out TW by a handful of points as the two teams left the rest of the field in the dust. Man! It was really somethin'! Well, done, kids!

On a separate note, over the course of time, a quizmaster will encounter a wide range of team names. Some clever; some provocative; some just laugh-out-loud funny.

With this in mind, I'm happy to give a little shout out to my favorite team name from this week at the Famous: Nervous Butt Puffs. I'm not gonna comment on it. I'm just puttin' it out there for your consideration and amusement.

The ladies (and one gent) of Yer a Quizard Harry worked their magic this week, with a wand-erful performance that landed them in first place! (See what I did there? "wand-erful"!? Oh, man! Sometimes I just crack myself up!)

Frequent first-place finishers Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink stumbled out of the gate with an unsuccessful double-or-nothing attempt, but still managed to finish in second! An impressive comeback, to be sure. Alex Trebeck would certainly approve.

Super Harvard and Bad News Barristers were in a dead heat with 61 points each at the end of regulation play, with Super Harvard taking third on the tie-breaker. Tough way to end things for the Barristers, after a fabulous performance all night. Better luck next time, friends.

Speaking of tough breaks, last week's #1 team - Nuns with Scissors - could do no better than 5th this week against tough competition. Such are the vagaries of Thursday night trivia at The Famous!

We'll be thinking of you all next Thursday, when we knock off for a week to enjoy Thanksgiving. Everyone at King Trivia is thankful for your continuing support and participation in our humble game, and we'll see you in two weeks to once again engage in trivia battle.

Nuns with Scissors won the night at The Famous in Glendale this week, with a terrific score of 54. But it was a close call over Bad News Barristers, who finished in 2nd place with 50 - just four points back!

Coming in third, just one point behind the Barristers was Momma's Precious Boys, who finished in the money with 49.

Nuns With Scissors is currently ranked at #47 in our League Play, which is important because tickets are now on sale for the big Tournament of Champions set to take place January 20th, 2018. Get your seats while you still can! Tickets are going fast!

And if you haven't already done so, drop in at The Famous and join us for frivolity and triviality on some pleasant Thursday evening, You'll be glad you did. (But be prepared - these players are tough!!)
