About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Yes, indeed. The Imp is correct! And once you've honed your mind to razor sharpness, what better way to test your mental mettle than a vigorous evening of KING TRIVIA at The Famous on Brand in Glendale! 

There was testing aplenty going on once again this week, as the formidable fellows of Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink were as menacing and invincible as a blonde chick riding a dragon! Yup, they won the night going away, and were mostly drunk the whole time.

Kudos to Big Willie Style for their staunch 2nd Place finish, a mere 29 points behind the Jeopardy crew. (29 POINTS!! Sheesh! We're gonna start imposing a 25-point handicap on BJWLUD, just to make it more challenging for 'em!)

GryffindWhores finished in third with 52, and undoubtedly would have done even better if their wands weren't as warped as their team name! That's them pictured right there in photo #1 above, and ya gotta admit, if ever there was a trio of women with warped wands, it's gotta be them, right? I mean, come on! Everyone knows Hermione was a good girl. (Until that awful Ron Weasley shows her his "wand" and corrupted her for all time). Weasley! He deserves the name!!

I also want to give a shout out to WANNAHAWKALOOGIE, just because I love their most excellent team name. And yes...yes I do!!

  • Whaddaya call a dog that can perform magic tricks?
    A labracadabrador!

A three-way tie! Now that doesn't happen very often! But this week at The Famous in Glendale, three awesome teams of determined quizzers battled to a draw at 65 points each! A tie-breaker question saw Electric Moustache emerge with the ultimate victory, with stalwart Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink right behind and Second Nook on The Left taking third nook on the list!

Congratulations to all! And now, on to more important issues...

King Trivia quizmasters work tirelessly to ensure that our quiz participants enjoy a smooth, challenging, entertaining evening of quizinosity! Preparation is the key, and part of that preparation is keeping a few amusing quips at the ready at all times.

Quips like the one that tops this recap. Yup, I've got a dog that can do magic tricks! He's a labracadabrador! Oh, how this humble quizmaster practiced saying LAB-RAH-CA-DAB-RAH-DOOR for hour upon endless hour until it rolled smoothly off his tongue!

But did my quiz participants appreciate the extraordinary lengths I went to in order to ensure smooth delivery of this (frankly hysterical) amusing quip? No! They did not!! (In fact, I heard groans!)
