About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Richie! I know you're reading this, man. Don't feel bad. There's not shame in coming in second. (Third place, yeah! That's embarrassing. But second? No...you're good)

It's just...those Jeopardy peeps. Man! They're tough to beat! I overheard you and Michael talking about how you were gonna send Devin over to "Tonya Harding their asses!"

Now, there are two things wrong with that plan. Thing one is, Tonya Harding didn't actually do anything to anyone. Didn't you see that movie!? It was all the whackadoo "bodyguard."

And second, Devin!? Really!? You think Devin's got what it takes to be a hitman!? Or hit-woman!? I mean, COME ON!! She's a cupcake, man! She's the type of person who uses a piece of paper to pick up a spider and take it outside. Use Michael. He's expendable!!

Okay. Let's just keep this between us, alright?

What do you do when most of your team can't make it to the quiz? You join forces with another team who is similarly short-handed! And thus it was that a couple of regulars from 2nd Nook on The Left joined forces with Bad News Barristers this week at The Famous to do trivia battle as 2nd Nook Barristers. Or Bad News on the Left.  

Either way, they won, and won big, with a robust score of 92. The always formidable Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink came in second with a very strong score of 84. And The Barrelers rounded out our top three with a score of 78.

It could be your team reaping the glory in next week's game. Come put yourself to the test. The quiz starts at 8!

Well THAT was a tight fight! After getting off to a slow start at this week's trivia battle at The Famous on Brand in Glendale, the stalwart, intrepid and always determined ladies of Yer a Quizard Harry fought their way back to the top of the score sheet!

They usually play as a group of five or six thinkers, but last night the Quizards were a duo. That's them in photo #1 right over there! But, ya know, it's the year of the woman, it seems, and girl power was certainly in the house as they doubled in rounds 5 and 7 to finish regulation play with a formidable 67 points, tied with the much larger faction calling themselves Our Team Just Got Fired Today!

The leader of OTJGFT is right there in photo #9, and he was looking pretty confident as he turned in answer sheet 7 for a successful double, and a tie with the Quizards!

The tiebreaker was a tense and fraught affair, that gave the edge to OTJGFT, but we had enough admiration to go around, and we can hardly wait to do it all again next week at The Famous. Come join us!!
