About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

It was a big comeback night for The Barrelers (featuring Chris in photo #4 [solo] and #5 [with family] ), who managed to score just one single point in Round 1 and yet came from behind with successful doubles in Rounds 5 and 6 to finish in the money behind Electric Mustache and the formidable Jeopardy crew.

Special mention goes to the crew from Disney Magic - a delightful group of co-workers who came in to check us out, and finished a very close 4th. Hoe close? ONE POINT! That's how close!!

Well done, kids. We can hardly wait until your next staff outing.

AND I JUST CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!

Oh man! I just crack myself up sometimes!

Oh what a fantastic, celebrative, orgiastic trivia night this week at The Famous in Glendale! Okay, maybe "orgiastic" is overstating it a bit, but with 16 teams of enthusiastic, competitive and knowledgeable quizzers, we had ourselves a grand ol' time!!

Congratulations to our top three finishers:
1st: 2nd Nook on The Left (71 points)
2nd: Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink (70 points)
3rd: The Shitty Beatles (63 points)

Note the ever-so-slim ONE POINT DIFFERENCE between The Nookers  and Jeopardy! ONE POINT! That's what we mean by competition! (And we love it so!)

Special shout out to Carol, Kathleen and Elysa, the three moms (and a daughter) who comprised the formidable and delightful team of Mom's Always Right. We certainly won't argue with the premise of your team name. After all, Mom IS pretty much always right! But when three moms don't agree on what their answers should be, Moms end up with 47 points! Jus' sayin'!

It's always a good time at The Famous! Good people. Good food and drink. Great fun! See ya next week.

There was a disturbing incident of attempted identity theft last night at The Famous in Glendale, wherein longtime regulars (and 3rd place finishers) Yer a Quizard Harry (note the single "z" and the "Yer") were forced to endure the presence of an imitation You're a Quizzard, Harry (note the "zz" and the "You're") team.

Fortunately, there's no way this attentive quizmaster would ever get confused about who the real Quizards are. One of our favorite regular teams, that's them pictured in photo #4 above. I do have to confess that we were impressed by the Quizzard's strong showing that included 53 points and a fifth-place finish. (That's just 6 points out of the top three!)

We're not sure what to make of our winning team's name, but The Shitty Beatles made the bell ring-0 with their 85 point 1st place finish. Longtime trivia stalwarts Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink (photo #9 above) finished in the top three again, despite failed double attempts in the first and seventh rounds!

I can't wind this up without mentioning the lovely ladies of Drunken Donuts, (photo 7) whose 37 points were nothing to write home about, certainly, but they submitted some funny answers, which were too naughty to print here.

If you wanna know what they said, you'll just have to visit us next Thursday night at The Famous, where you'll find the BEST trivia quiz hosted by a guy named Tim on a Thursday night anywhere in Southern California! Really! It's the best one!!
