About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Keep It On The DL (actually The Bad News Barristers, playing incognito) won the night this week at The Famous on Brand in Glendale. They triumphed over tough competitors Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink and Gentle Sweaters, a trio that placed very high in our Final Season 8 Rankings.

Final reminder: The Tournament of Champions is NEXT WEEK! Tickets are still on sale, but there aren't many left! You don't want to miss this opportunity to battle for your share of the big $10,000 prize pot!

Two teams in attendance at The Famous delighted your humble quizmaster with their fun and unexpected team names. MacHale & Tiga (Have Had a Few Drinks!) offered the most honest name of the night, if you substitute "several" for "a few!"

Did I say "several?" Let me put it another way. How can I put this nicely? Oh! I know! They were PLOUGHED!! (Check out photo #9 for visual verification.) I mean, they were delightful and not at all obnoxious. But definitely ploughed. UBER customers, without a doubt.

And finally, the name I Need Amanda Hugnkiss may look innocuous enough at first glance, but say it quickly and the true meaning becomes clear.

2018 comes in on the wings of feverish anticipation! The Tournament of Champions is just two weeks away -- tickets are on sale now (hurry, there aren't many left) -- and several tough competitors were in attendance at The Famous on Brand this week, maintaining their edge as they prepare for battle and their share of the big $10,000 prize pot.

Jeopardy Lettuce Drink led the pack, riffing on the team name of frequent top-three finishers Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink and executing an exciting come-from-behind win.

Bad News Barristers came in second, just two points behind the night's winners, to complete our top three winner's circle. Come join us at the Famous next week, or any Thursday night. We guarantee a challenge and a good time for all.

We wound up the year with a rousing session of trivia at The Famous in Glendale this week. We made some new friends; had a few laughs; learned a few things. In other words, it was another terrific gathering of King Trivia fans and friends.

Thank you all for your continuing support for all things trivial. We'll be back next year (next week!) with fresh questions, fresh handouts, fresh music and even more fun, fun, fun!
