About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

With record-breaking, triple-digit heat permeating Southern California in a historic heat wave, it shouldn't have surprised anyone that folks were walking around in nothing more than bathing suits.

But it was a big, BIG surprise when Kaley Cuoco, who stars in The Big Bang Theory, came in for a hot night of cool trivia!*

"Ya know, I play a character that is supposedly in love with a well-educated, super-smart nerdy guy," Kaley explained. "But the irony is, in real life, I really am drawn to smart nerdy guys!"

"Like Quizmasters!?" I asked excitedly.

"No. Not Quizmasters," she replied. "I like guys who don't have all the answers right in front of 'em, but have 'em in their heads. You know, guys like THAT guy!" she said, pointing out the guy in photo #2. (She eventually left with him!)

Aside from her disdain for Quizmasters, Kaley was very nice, and her presence at the quiz was entirely imaginary. See ya next week!

Everybody knew everyone else's name this week at The Famous in Glendale, where every team was a ranked, league-enrolled regular...except one.

Who were the new kids? Why that was David and Leigh, who comprised the team of Sweet Leigh, and are pictured in photo #8. David insists that Leigh is sweet. Leigh says, not so much. We don't know who to believe, but we were delighted to make your acquaintance, and hope we see you two again soon.

As for the rest of your loyal regulars, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!

The lovely ladies of Yer a Quizard Harry had a very good night at The Famous in Glendale Yer a Quizard Harry this week. Not only did one of their own celebrate her 28th birthday (Happy birthday, Ellen!), they also beat their frequent competitors Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink by a whopping 20 points!

What does a whopping 20-point win look like? Why, it looks a lot like the satisfied expressions on the faces of Harry's Quizards pictured right there in photo #1. Congrats, ladies. You're awesome!

The Jeopardy guys didn't take it too hard (that's them in photo #2), and we're sure they'll be back to their formidable selves next week. Hope you'll join us then for another rousing night of fun and trivia.
