About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

It was all about The Bad News Barristers this week at The Famous in Glendale. The stalwart trio of determined trivia-lectuals but forth an outstanding effort that resulted in an impressive 99-pont, first-place performance!!

And it's a good thing, too! "we're on the bubble for making it into the tournament," Barrister Devon said after the game. (That's her in one - or more - of the photos pictured above). "We really needed a good finish tonight!"

Well don't worry, Barristers! Your fine finish put you on the right side of that bubble, and you are currently among our top 100 teams!

It was a great night for the family that call themselves Gingko 1997 this week at The Famous in Glendale. They took the win with a strong double in the final round to emerge supreme over frequent winners Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink and Fancy Cheese, who were very Gouda, but not quite Gouda-nuff.

This humble quizmaster wants to extend an apology to The Bad News Barristers, for shaming them into an unwise double attempt in round two (after they answered all Round One questions correctly but failed to execute the double).

"Timidity is never a wining strategy," I told 'em after Round One. "In trivia, as in life, fortune favors the bold!" I said! And they listened, and promptly "went bold" with the double attempt in Round Two. And they got that close to success, missing just one question.

But one was enough. I'm sorry, BNBs. You should have never listened to me!! See ya next week.
