About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Calling themselves "Mom's Fault," the team we know and love as Yer A Quizard, Harry (last week's winning team) bolstered their brain trust by adding a mom and celebrating her birthday at The Famous in Glendale last night.

Mom's name is Carol - that's her, sitting pretty in the middle of photo #1 above, and she helped the Quizard's finish in the money for the second week in a row! Well done, kids! Thanks for celebrating your special  day with us, Carol!

Alas, birthday-celebrating moms weren't enough to stave off the relentless competitors known as Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink, who returned to the trivia fray and walked away with top honors.

The third position in our top three went to The Barrelers, (photo #4 above) a formidable team led by the wacky woman we mentioned in last week's recap (below). Yep. that's her in last week's photo#1. (Scroll down just a bit...yup, that's her!) In addition to their impressive dance moves, The Barrelers routinely bring their "A" game every week, and took 3rd place last night after finishing in the top spot just two weeks ago!

Gentle Sweaters got close - ooh, so tantalizingly close - to the winner's circle  with a finishing score just three points shy of glory! Perhaps you guys would do better if you changed your team name to "Ruthless Sweaters"? Just a thought...

We'll be back next week to dance, sing, celebrate birthdays and engage in trivia battle once again.

Harry: I'm a what?

Triumph! YES!! It was a night of triumph for the lovely ladies of Yer A Quizzard, Harry, (photo #2, above) who managed to win despite passing up not one but two opportunities to exercise the double-or-nothing option.

We had a bit of a scare during the quiz, when a crazy woman (photo #1) jumped up and started shouting, "I can dance! I can dance, dammit! When does the dance contest start!?"

Someone from (2nd place finishers) Not A Hero escorted the poor deranged woman outside, and she was last seen boogie-ing up Brand Blvd.

Things were really hoppin' at The Famous in Glendale last night. A delightful mix of King Trivia regulars and newfound friends imbued the night with a celebrative feel.

How celebrated, you might ask? Let's check in with Chris (photo #1) from The Barrelers, who couldn't contain his happy feet after successfully doubling in rounds five and seven to lead his team to VICTORY!!

Yes, we know, Chris. Victory is sweet. Savor it! Bask in the warm glow of winning! Enjoy it while you can, because those relentless competitors known as Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink (who finished a close second) and Gentle Sweaters (third place) - not to mention the relentless ladies of Yer a Quizard Harry - are comin' for ya!
