About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Ya gotta hand it to this week's winning team, Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink (currently ranked #26 in King Trivia League Play). Not only did they win our trivia quiz for the third week in a row! But they did it after attempting unsuccessfully to double in both the second and third rounds! That was quite a comeback, fellas!

That's the Jeopardy crew looking smug (deservedly so, I'd say) in photo #3 above. But ya gotta ask yourself: how does such an extraordinary comeback after double double-or-nothing disasters make the competition feel? For an answer, look no further than photo #1. That's Chris (The Barrelers) looking kerfuffled by this turn of events.

Fortunately, the rest of The Barrelers (photo #2) were able to pull him out of his funk, which was never real in the first place. (Thanks for the great face, Chris!)

Our number 2 finishers - Electric Moustache - were both fun and funkless, as you can see in photo #7. And the lovely ladies of Yer a Quizard Harry (photo 8) rounded out our top three finishers.

We can't finish without mentioning the attractive couple in photo #4. They call themselves Divorce Party, and thanks to the counseling and encouragement of your intrepid quizmaster, I think those kids are gonna work it out! King Trivia, which brings so much joy to so many people, can even help salve a wounded heart!!

Now, if we can just figure out what to do about Chris...

It was another big night for Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink this week at The Famous in Glendale. Yeah, they won. They won big! They're a formidable team, no doubt about it. (That's them in photo #5 above. You'd think that those big brains would require HUGE heads to hold all that grey matter. But no, they have perfectly normal heads, that contain LOTS of Random Access Memory!)

The real battle last night was between Bad News Barristers (2nd place; 69 points) and The Barrelers (68 points). One point! That was the crucial difference last night. One stinkin' point!!

You might ask how The Barrelers felt about falling short by just one slim point. Well, a picture is worth 1,000 words, and Katie sticking out her yucky old tongue in photo #7 above pretty much tells the whole story!!

Ya don't see any tongue-sticking action from Electric Moustache (photos 2, 3 & 4 above) after they finished out of the top three at #4. That's because they comported themselves with dignity and good sportsmanship. Ya gotta admire that!
